Terms of Service
Last updated: March 30, 2026
Effective Date: March 30, 2026
1. Introduction and Acceptance
Welcome to Cursus Vitae, a career document platform designed to help you build living CVs, explore career domains, and prepare stronger career documents through AI-assisted guidance. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Cursus Vitae website (cursusvitae.com), mobile application, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).
The Service is operated by Side Quests Lab SLU (Sociedad Limitada Unipersonal), CIF: B26983387, Calle Lepanto 270, 08013 Barcelona, Spain.
By accessing or using Cursus Vitae, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Cursus Vitae is a web-based platform that helps you build and maintain comprehensive career profiles (“living CVs”) through conversation with Elena, an AI career document assistant. The platform compares job posting requirements against the contents of your CV to help you identify skills worth developing, and offers structured features to explore career domains and improve how you present your professional experience.
Cursus Vitae operates on a confirmation-first design: Elena suggests content, edits, and improvements; you review and decide what to accept. Nothing is added to your documents without your explicit approval.
Cursus Vitae is a career document preparation tool for job seekers. Elena helps you present your experience accurately but does not match you with employers, submit applications on your behalf, or make representations about your candidacy to third parties.
2.1 System Requirements
Cursus Vitae is accessible through modern web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — latest two versions). No software installation is required. Voice input requires a device with a microphone and a supported browser. An internet connection is required. Pro subscription features remain accessible through your account for the duration of your active subscription.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
3.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3.2 Account Registration
To access certain features, you must create an account with accurate and current information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, all activity under your account, and notifying us immediately at support@cursusvitae.com of any unauthorized access.
Cursus Vitae may suspend or terminate accounts with false, misleading, or incomplete information.
3.3 Acceptable Conduct
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You will not use the Service to impersonate others, harass or harm others, or violate any applicable laws.
4. AI Features and Transparency
4.1 AI Disclosure
When you use Cursus Vitae, you are interacting with an artificial intelligence system. Elena is an AI career companion powered by Anthropic's Claude language models, not a human advisor. In accordance with the EU AI Act, we inform you of this at first interaction and throughout the platform.
4.2 What Elena Does — and Does Not Do
Elena helps you prepare career documents by suggesting improvements, comparing your CV against job requirements, and helping you articulate your experience. Elena evaluates your career documents — not you as a person.
Elena does not score, grade, rank, or classify you. Elena does not provide output to employers or third parties and does not make or influence hiring decisions.
4.3 Confirmation-First Design
Elena may suggest content additions, edits, or improvements to your career documents. Nothing is added to, removed from, or modified in your documents without your explicit confirmation. You review and approve every change before it takes effect.
4.4 AI Content Disclaimers
- AI outputs may contain errors. While we continuously improve Elena's capabilities, AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies or outdated information. You should independently verify information before relying on it. Your statutory rights regarding digital content conformity are not affected by this disclosure.
- You are responsible for final content. Documents you create using AI assistance are your responsibility. Review and approve all outputs before using them professionally.
- Not professional advice. Elena is not a substitute for qualified professionals, including career counselors, legal advisors, or employment experts.
- No fabrication of credentials. You agree not to use AI features to fabricate or misrepresent credentials, qualifications, or experience. AI systems may occasionally generate inaccurate suggestions — it is your responsibility to review all suggestions before approving them. If you identify any inaccuracy, please report it to support@cursusvitae.com.
- No guarantee of outcomes. Employment outcomes depend on many factors beyond application materials. Cursus Vitae makes no representations regarding employment outcomes.
4.5 Data Processing
When you use AI features, your inputs are processed by Anthropic under strict data protection agreements. For full details on how Elena processes your data, including voice input, conversation retention, and third-party processing, see our Privacy Policy.
5. Your Content
5.1 Ownership
You retain all ownership rights to content you upload, create, or submit through Cursus Vitae (“User Content”), including your CV, career history, skills, cover letters, and any other professional documents. This data is yours. You may export it at any time (see our Privacy Policy, Section 11 — Right to Data Portability).
5.2 License to Cursus Vitae
By uploading User Content, you grant Cursus Vitae a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and transmit your content as necessary to deliver the Service, transmit it to Anthropic for real-time AI processing (Anthropic does not retain your data after processing), and analyze aggregated and anonymized usage patterns to improve the Service (this does not include the content of your career documents).
This license terminates when you delete your content or account, except for data retained in encrypted backups for up to 30 days and data retained as required by law.
5.3 Deletion
You may delete your User Content at any time. Cursus Vitae will remove it without undue delay and in any event within 30 days, except as required by law.
5.4 Prohibited Content
You agree not to upload content that violates intellectual property rights, contains malware or harmful code, harasses or defames others, or violates applicable law.
6. Subscription Plans and Payments
6.1 Service Tiers
- Free: Basic access to the platform at no cost, including core features as described on the Platform. No payment required.
- Pro: Full access to all features, including Elena, for €19.99/month.
6.2 Pricing
Prices are displayed in Euros (€) and include all applicable taxes. Price changes will not affect active subscriptions during their current billing period. We will notify you of any changes at least 30 days before they take effect; you may cancel before the next billing period if you do not accept the new price.
6.3 Payment Processing
Payment is processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. Cursus Vitae does not store your complete payment card details. For details on payment data handling, see our Privacy Policy.
6.4 Billing and Cancellation
Pro subscriptions are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@cursusvitae.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain Pro access until that date. No pro-rata refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
6.5 Right of Withdrawal
Under applicable EU consumer protection law, you have the right to withdraw from a Pro subscription within 14 calendar days of purchase, without giving any reason.
How to withdraw: Send a clear statement to support@cursusvitae.com, or use the Model Withdrawal Form at cursusvitae.com/withdrawal-form. We will confirm receipt by email without delay.
Immediate access waiver: The Pro subscription provides access to digital content not supplied on a tangible medium. If you wish to access Pro features before the 14-day period expires, you will be asked to expressly consent to immediate provision and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the content has been fully provided. This consent will be confirmed to you by email.
Refunds: If you withdraw within the 14-day period (where the waiver does not apply), we will reimburse all payments within 14 days using the same payment method, unless you agree otherwise.
6.6 Model Withdrawal Form
To withdraw from a Pro subscription, you may use the following form (not mandatory — any clear statement is sufficient):
To: Side Quests Lab SLU, support@cursusvitae.com
I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the following digital content: [Pro subscription]
Ordered on: [date]
Name: [your name]
Email: [your email]
Date: [date]
6.7 Subscription Continuity
If we discontinue the Pro tier or materially reduce its features, we will provide at least 60 days' notice. If Pro features are materially reduced within 12 months of your most recent payment, you are entitled to a full refund for that billing period or continued access to equivalent features, at your choice.
7. Free Features
Cursus Vitae offers free access to certain features as described on the Platform. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before discontinuing free features or requiring payment for previously free functionality. You will never be charged without your express consent.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other accounts
- Engage in harassment, abuse, or discrimination
- Reverse-engineer or decompile the Service, except as permitted by applicable law for interoperability purposes
- Scrape or harvest data from the Platform without authorization
- Interfere with the operation or infrastructure of the Service
- Upload malware or harmful code
- Use automated access (bots, scripts) without written permission
- Resell or redistribute access to the Service
- Share account credentials to provide access to multiple individuals
- Use the Service to mass-produce documents for third parties or operate a document preparation service
- Engage in patterns of use designed to consume disproportionate resources, such as high-volume automated requests or intentionally wasteful interactions
Cursus Vitae reserves the right to investigate suspected violations. We may impose usage limits, suspend, or terminate accounts engaged in abusive patterns — with notice and a reasonable opportunity to respond, except where the abuse is severe or ongoing.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our Content
All content provided by Cursus Vitae — including text, graphics, logos, and AI-generated guidance (unless created by you) — is the property of Side Quests Lab SLU or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
9.2 Your License to Use
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial use. You may not modify or create derivative works (except as permitted by law), sell or lease access, or remove proprietary notices.
9.3 AI-Assisted Content — You Own It
Content you create using Elena is yours. Elena is a tool that assists your process — you review, edit, and approve all suggestions. The final document is your work. Cursus Vitae does not claim ownership of content you create using AI features.
9.4 Trademarks
“Cursus Vitae,” “Elena,” and the Cursus Vitae logo are trademarks of Side Quests Lab SLU. You may not use them without prior written consent.
10. Service Availability and Modifications
10.1 Availability
Cursus Vitae strives for continuous availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen issues.
10.2 Modifications
Cursus Vitae may modify, update, or remove features. If changes significantly reduce core functionality included in your active subscription, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and you may terminate your account. If modifications materially diminish the value of your Pro subscription within the current billing period, you are entitled to a proportionate refund.
10.3 Force Majeure
Cursus Vitae is not liable for interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, internet infrastructure failures, or third-party service outages. We will make reasonable efforts to restore service promptly and notify you of extended interruptions.
11. Account Termination
11.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@cursusvitae.com.
11.2 By Cursus Vitae
For curable violations, we will notify you and provide a reasonable cure period (typically 14 days). Immediate termination is reserved for serious violations including fraud, illegal activity, or conduct threatening the safety of users or the Service.
Cursus Vitae may terminate accounts inactive for more than 24 months, with 30 days' notice.
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your access is revoked and User Content is deleted within 30 days, except as required by law. If we terminate your account for reasons other than your serious breach, you are entitled to a pro-rata refund for remaining days in your current Pro billing period.
12. Warranties
12.1 Statutory Guarantee
Under applicable EU and Spanish consumer protection law, you have a statutory guarantee that Pro subscription content will conform to the contract description, be fit for its intended purpose, and be of satisfactory quality. This guarantee applies for 2 years from delivery. If content does not conform, you are entitled to have it brought into conformity, receive a proportionate price reduction, or terminate the contract. These statutory rights cannot be excluded by these Terms.
12.2 Service Disclaimers
Subject to your statutory rights: (a) we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability; (b) AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies (see Section 4.4); (c) we do not guarantee any specific employment outcome.
13. Limitation of Liability
13.1 Liability Cap
Side Quests Lab SLU's total liability for damages arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to Cursus Vitae in the 12 months preceding the claim (or €50 if you have not paid anything). This cap does not apply to the matters in Section 13.3.
13.2 Exclusion of Certain Damages
Subject to Section 13.3, Side Quests Lab SLU is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.
13.3 Mandatory Carve-Outs
These limitations do not apply to liability for personal injury or death caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, willful misconduct or gross negligence, data protection obligations under the GDPR, the statutory guarantee of conformity (Section 12.1), or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
14. Your Responsibility for Content
You are responsible for ensuring your User Content does not infringe third-party rights or violate applicable law. If we receive a credible infringement claim, we may remove the content and, for serious or repeated infringement, suspend or terminate your account under Section 11.
15. Dispute Resolution
15.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, specifically the laws applicable in Catalonia. If you are a consumer in the EU, this does not deprive you of protection under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
15.2 Jurisdiction
If you are a consumer in the EU, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your domicile or in Barcelona, Spain. Cursus Vitae may only bring proceedings against you in the courts of your domicile.
15.3 Good-Faith Resolution
We will attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation for 30 days before either party initiates legal proceedings.
15.4 EU Online Dispute Resolution
If you are a consumer in the EU, you may submit complaints to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Our email for ODR purposes is support@cursusvitae.com.
16. General Provisions
16.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Legal Notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and Side Quests Lab SLU regarding the Service.
16.2 Severability
If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed and the remaining provisions continue in full force.
16.3 Waiver
Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision.
16.4 Assignment
You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. Side Quests Lab SLU may assign these Terms to an acquirer of substantially all our assets, provided the assignee assumes all obligations. We will notify you at least 30 days in advance; you may terminate your account if you do not agree.
16.5 Amendments
Cursus Vitae may amend these Terms. Material amendments will be communicated at least 30 days before taking effect. For amendments that reduce your rights or increase your obligations, you may terminate your account within 30 days and receive a pro-rata refund for remaining Pro subscription days.
16.6 No Third-Party Beneficiaries
No third party has rights or claims under these Terms.
16.7 Survival
Sections 4 (AI Features), 5 (Your Content), 9 (Intellectual Property), 12 (Warranties), 13 (Limitation of Liability), and 15 (Dispute Resolution) survive termination.
16.8 Language
These Terms are available in English. A Spanish version will be provided before public launch. In case of discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails in proceedings before Spanish courts.
