Terms of Service
Last updated: August 25, 2026
Welcome to Cursus Vitae. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Cursus Vitae website and app at cursusvitae.com (the “Service”). Please read them before using the Service. By creating an account or using Cursus Vitae, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
The Service is operated by Side Quests Lab S.L., CIF B26983387, Calle Lepanto 270, 08013 Barcelona, Spain.
1. What Cursus Vitae is
Cursus Vitae is a free web app that turns a static CV into a structured, connected record of your career and helps you prepare stronger job applications from it. You enter your own professional history, and Cursus Vitae organises it into a career graph — a map of how your roles, skills, and achievements connect.
From there, the Service helps you:
- improve and complete your record — import a CV, then improve it through guided sessions (for example, connecting a skill to the role where you used it, merging duplicate entries, filling gaps between jobs, and turning vague descriptions into specific ones);
- target a specific role by mapping a job's requirements against your experience and showing you, requirement by requirement, what your CV already demonstrates and what to strengthen, with concrete suggestions on how; and
- produce and share the result — tailor a CV for an application, export it as a PDF, track your applications, and optionally create a shareable career view (an unlisted link for a recruiter).
Everything the Service suggests is yours to accept, edit, or ignore; you are always the author of your CV. Cursus Vitae is a tool you use on your own side of the hiring process — it does not rank or grade individuals, or act for employers or recruiters.
The Service is provided free of charge, with certain features (such as CV tailoring) available up to a stated limit. There is no subscription or billing currently active. A paid tier with additional AI capabilities is planned but is not currently available; if and when it launches it will be governed by terms presented to you at that time, and you will never be charged without your express agreement.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 years old to use Cursus Vitae. To use the Service, you create an account with accurate information, using a secure sign-in link sent to your email (a magic link) or your Google account. You are responsible for keeping access to your email and your account secure, and for activity under your account.
Keep your sign-in method secure. If you think someone else has accessed your account, tell us as soon as you reasonably can at support@cursusvitae.com so we can help secure it. We are not responsible for activity in your account caused by unauthorised access that you could have flagged and didn't — but nothing in this paragraph limits our responsibility for security failures on our side.
We can only act on an account with the person who controls its sign-in email. If you lose access to that email and we cannot verify that you are the account holder, we will not be able to recover the account or hand over its data. We know this is strict — it is what stops someone else from talking their way into your career data.
3. AI-assisted features
Some Cursus Vitae features use AI to help you: importing a CV, mapping a job's requirements against your experience, suggesting how to strengthen a description, and generating a tailored CV. A few things to understand about them:
- They assist you; they don't decide for you. Each one produces suggestions that you review and choose to accept, edit, or ignore. Nothing changes in your record or your documents without your action. Cursus Vitae does not rank or grade individuals, or make recruitment or employment decisions on behalf of any third party.
- They can make mistakes. AI-generated suggestions may be inaccurate or out of date. Review anything before you rely on it — and especially before you send it to an employer or include it in an application. Your statutory rights regarding digital content are not affected by this notice.
- They are not professional advice. They are not a substitute for a qualified career counsellor, recruiter, or legal or other professional.
- You are responsible for your content. Don't use these features to fabricate or misrepresent qualifications or experience. What you submit in an application is your responsibility.
How your data is handled when you use these features is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Your career data is yours
You keep all ownership rights in the content you enter or create in Cursus Vitae — your career history, skills, CVs, and any other documents (“Your Content”). This data is yours.
To run the Service for you, you give us permission to store, process, and display Your Content as needed to provide the features you use — including sending the relevant career data to our AI provider to structure imported CVs and generate requirements mapping and CV suggestions when you use those features, and letting you export your documents. This permission exists only to operate the Service and ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from short-lived backups and anything we must keep by law.
You can export your data and delete your content or your account at any time (see our Privacy Policy).
5. Sharing a career view
Cursus Vitae lets you create a shareable career view — a link you generate to show a selection of your career information to someone such as a recruiter. You control what a link contains, how long it lasts, and whether it stays active; you can disable or delete it at any time. You are responsible for choosing who to send a link to. We host the page the link points to but do not send it on your behalf.
6. Acceptable use
Please use Cursus Vitae lawfully and reasonably. You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, defame, or harm others;
- upload content that infringes someone else's rights or contains malware;
- try to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems;
- scrape or harvest data from the Service, or use bots or automated access, without our written permission;
- reverse-engineer the Service, except where the law allows it for interoperability;
- resell or redistribute access to the Service, or use it to run a document-preparation service for third parties; or
- interfere with the operation of the Service or place an unreasonable load on it.
If you break these rules, we may limit, suspend, or close your account. For problems that can be fixed, we'll normally give you notice and a chance to put things right first; for serious or ongoing abuse (such as fraud or illegal activity) we may act immediately.
7. Our content and trademarks
The Service itself — including its design, software, text, graphics, and logo — belongs to Side Quests Lab S.L. or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. You may use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don't copy, modify, resell, or remove notices from it except where the law allows. “Cursus Vitae” and the Cursus Vitae logo are our trademarks; please don't use them without our written permission.
This does not affect your ownership of Your Content (Section 4).
8. Availability and changes to the Service
We aim to keep Cursus Vitae available and working well, but we can't guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not promise any particular level of availability or uptime. We may update, change, or remove features, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons beyond our control.
The Service also depends on third-party providers — for hosting, database, AI processing, voice transcription, and payments. If one of them has a problem, the affected features may be degraded or paused while it lasts. Where we can, we keep the core of the Service (your data and your CV editing) working even when AI-assisted features are unavailable.
Events outside our reasonable control include, for example, failures of third-party providers or infrastructure, internet or power outages, strikes, natural disasters, or government action. If such an event occurs, we may suspend or reduce the affected parts of the Service for as long as it lasts. We'll tell you what's happening — normally with a notice in the app or on our website — and make reasonable efforts to restore the Service promptly. We are not liable for interruptions caused by such events.
If we ever decide to discontinue the Service as a whole, we will give you reasonable advance notice — at least 30 days, except where the law or events outside our control prevent it — and you will be able to export your data before the Service closes.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using Cursus Vitae and delete your account at any time in your settings or by contacting support@cursusvitae.com.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, following the approach in Section 6. We may also close accounts inactive for more than 24 months, with reasonable notice. When your account ends, your access stops and Your Content is deleted, apart from short-lived backups and anything we must keep by law.
10. The Service is provided “as is”
The Service is provided free of charge and is offered as-is and as-available. To the extent the law allows, we do not give warranties about the Service, and in particular we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, that AI-generated suggestions will be accurate, or any particular job-search or employment outcome. This section does not affect any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.
11. Our liability
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for our data protection obligations under the GDPR.
Subject to that, Side Quests Lab S.L. is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service — including loss of profit, income, or goodwill, loss of data, or loss of employment opportunities (such as applications, interviews, or offers that do not succeed). Cursus Vitae helps you present your career; hiring decisions are made by employers, not by us.
Apart from the liability we cannot limit by law, our total combined liability for all claims arising from or relating to the Service is capped at the greater of €20 or the amounts you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
If you are a consumer, this section does not affect your mandatory legal rights.
12. Governing law and where disputes are heard
These Terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, this does not remove the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence, or in Barcelona, Spain; we will only bring proceedings against you in the courts of your country of residence. The courts of Barcelona otherwise have jurisdiction.
Before starting formal proceedings, we'll try to resolve any dispute with you in good faith — you can always reach us at support@cursusvitae.com.
13. General
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a provision on one occasion doesn't waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer ours to a company that takes over our business, provided your rights are preserved, and we'll tell you if that happens. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Legal Notice, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
We may update these Terms — for example, to reflect changes in the Service or the law. We'll post the updated version with a new date, and for material changes we'll let you know in advance. If you don't agree to a change, you can stop using the Service and delete your account before it takes effect.
